Or It could be some background software interfering with the download. The fact that you don't have the problem helps to re-enforce that. I think it has something to do with the Job Buffer of the main board. I'm not 100% convinced that it is software related. Its not a big deal, I know its there and just work around it if I have to. The only way around it is to change the diameter or close the job and reopen it. amount of Z lift, orientation etc, and resend. It only happens when you send a job, then change something in the job, whether that is part of the copy or a setting i.e. It is build 8 and it doesnt happen when repeating copies from the Pendant. I wonder if that could have anything to do with it. I had the power supply in the computer replaced, but it did it once after that.īy process of elimination, I have kept the computer running without loading any program, then with G98 running and it has not crashed.įor some particular reason, I seem to generate a lot of sparks. It never seems to happen while engraving a job, tho.

At times, and for no particular reason, the computer shuts down.

That puts you in the manual mode and sets up the free floating box for the text. the lower right dot on the text utilities pinwheel, and select 'Text in a box'. In GS98 you type in the line of text, then go to, (I think). I tried to pull a box with the text tool, which is what I do in Corel to do columns, but you cannot do it in GS5. Just tried to do what you discribed that you do in gs98 and I cannot do it in g5. Just wish that the global rescale was a select/unselect feature. The height sometimes is a good thing, the overall condensation is not. It will change the height and condensation of the text. The only problem/feature with text in a box, is that changing the box does a global rescale of the text in the box. I will though as the column feature in G5 is turning my hair grey and I'm getting tired of hearing my main engraver whinning about it. I'm not sure if G5 has that feature or not as I have never tried it in G5. What you are explaining seems to not meet those needs, but your way looks like it would work fine for one and done column jobs.Īre you talking about doing this in the GS98 / Gs5 software or in Corel and then bring into the GS program? With my Vangard 3400 it was simple to set up colums leaving spaces for future years, save the layout and recall job as needed. We do alot of plates for cup bases that we add names and years to as they come up.

Is it build 008? That is the latest and most stable version, from what I know. The different plate size guarantees a home and hopefully a reset.ĭo the jobs contain different text or are they just copies? To do a copy you just need to press start on the pendant again without resending the job. The other thing that might get you out of it is to send a job with a different plate size and just a period, then reload the job and send it. Have you tried saving the file then reloading it? I have a plain IS400 not the volume, so I do not know. I use Gravostyle98 for my IS400 Volume and I have not experienced that problem on my cylindrical attachment jobs. Have you experienced this problem with yours? 001mm which makes no difference to the rotation, is enough to stop it from having a hissy. I recently discovered that if I change the Diameter before resending, it works fine. If I ever had to resend a job I would save it, shutdown and restart G98 and then send the job and it would run fine. Harvey, I have a problem when Cylindrical engraving where if I change somthing on a job and resend it, the machine has a bit of a cow, and rotates alot faster than previously, so much so that the gearing can slip and you lose registration. G98 does have some annoying bugs, but you get used to them and being aware of them allows you to compensate. I did like the job timer and nesting function, but apart from those, there was nothing to entice me to upgrade. It felt 'Clunky' compared to 98 and the worse thing was that, while I could drive the laser with it, I could only run one machine at a time unless I had two installations of G5 in seperate Folders I hate the new layout, the HUGE buttons makes it look like kids software, and the Blue that constantly flashes is downright annoying. I was less than impressed with the whole package. I borrowed a Dongle from my Gravograph Techs and had a play with G5. I recently looked at upgrading to G5 so I could drive my Laser and IS400 from the same software. I agree with Harvey that 98 is better than G5.
